Sneakers for Hartford’s Homeless

On Sunday, April, 30 Dr. Lynn LeBlanc, along with other volunteer podiatrists, provided free foot exams to homeless people at the Footwear With Care’s “Spring Sneaker Kickoff” at UConn Hartford.

“Most common problems are really coming from the diabetics that we’re seeing. They have corns, calluses, bacterial infections, fungal infections, things that can get slowed down by a proper pair of shoes.”

Volunteers from UConn and the Hartford Police Department were also present to help people pick their free sneakers, socks, and a lunch to go. Over 300 people were helped at the event.

Footwear With Care accepts donations through https://footwearwithcare.org. The organization provides boots and shoes, socks, and medical foot exams for homeless people.
